Our Lady of Grace Athletics
The Athletics Program at Our Lady of Grace School offers students the opportunity to participate in a number of intramural and interscholastic sports. These programs provide an important and valuable experience for participants and enable them to learn the art and skill of the given sport while learning to do so with good sportsmanship in a positive environment.
Intramural Teams
The intramural program includes Flag Football (co-ed) in the fall and Basketball (co-ed) in the winter. Both seasons last 4 – 5 weeks. These programs are offered to students in grades 3 – 5.
Interscholastic Teams
Interscholastic sports teams from the school play in the Piedmont Elementary Catholic Schools Athletic Association Conference (PECSAA). PECSAA is the governing body of our Catholic league. It consists of 6 Athletic Directors, one from each school, with one Athletic Director acting also as League Director. Each school in the association assumes the post of League Director every six years. Our Lady of Grace School's Athletic Director, Jeff Kinlaw, will be the League Director for 2008-2009. School Principals play an active part in establishing and revising league policies. PESCAA League Schools include Our Lady of Grace, Saint Pius X, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Mercy, Saint Leo the Great and Blessed Sacrament.
There are six interscholastic sports offered at OLG: Volleyball (Fall), Basketball (Winter), Cheerleading (Winter), Softball (Spring), Golf (Spring), and Co-ed Track (Spring). Volleyball, Basketball, Cheerleading, and Softball are offered to students in grades 5 – 8 only. Most sports have a JV level (for 5th & 6th Grades) and a Varsity level (for 7th & 8th Grades). Track is a K-8 program with a 6-school meet ending the season. Boys basketball will have a 5th grade team, 6th grade team, and a 7th/8th grade team. Girls basketball consists of a 5th/6th grade team and a 7th/8th grade team.
